It’s very simple, the average human lifestyle doesn’t stack up for a better future. That’s not to say that the average human can’t change. There are many signs to show bravery, learning and lifestyle change among people globally everyday. If you are one of those people who consumes little and resuses what you consume or returns what you consume sustainably back to nature, you are on the right track. If you are actively learning and trying to understand your role in the world and how to improve it, you are on the right track. If you are good to your fellow human being and aware of their needs, both to be fulfilled and also their needs to contribute to a better world, you are on the right track.
If you are none of these things, you are likely one of those many precariat who, throughout history, have lived in fear, died and been forgotten. Maybe that suits you. But if your fear or apathy are stronger than your sense of love, there will be less meaning for you to continue. A better life is your choice.
Think about it. If you don’t recognise that you have a role choice, i.e. either be a contributor to a better society or be an antagonist, then how much do you really appreciate life? If you do appreciate life, but don’t want to help, then you’re most likely afraid. If you turn to others in this movement, you can find hope. But you must be prepared to go through many obstacles before you sense it. (There are antagonists that contribute by teaching important lessons to others. But if this is done without good intention, then it is neither a contribution to others nor is it a contribution to yourself).
Man choices to begin with : consume less, change your company, change your job, burn less fossil fuels, order food/goods from local producers, grow your own, salvage food waste, share tools with others, help people in need, join organisations that are solving ecological disaster, learn as much as you can, actively question the extent to which organisations are making efforts to change the world, find people who are already on the right track, etc.
What will your role be to begin with?
